The problem

Renting in Nigeria has been broken for a long time. You already know how.

You've paid ₦50,000 in "inspection fees" for houses that were never for rent.

The agent's 10% plus agreement fee plus caution fee turned ₦400K rent into ₦600K.

You sent money to a "landlord" who blocked your number the next morning.

We built HomeDirectNG because we've lived this too.

How it works

Four steps. No agent in between.

Whether you're looking for a home or listing one, the process is short and everything happens in the app.

1
Search verified homes
Browse listings from landlords who have already passed identity verification.
2
Book and inspect
Pick a time that works for you and see the property in person before paying anything.
3
Pay safely, in-app
All payments go through Paystack, a CBN-licensed payment processor. You only pay after you've inspected the property and a rental agreement has been signed.
4
Sign and move in
Sign your rental agreement digitally and move in. No paper, no printing.
1
Verify your identity
Confirm your NIN and complete a short face check. It's a one-time step.
2
List your property
Add your property in minutes. Listing is free, with no commission taken from your rent.
3
Approve inspections
Review inspection requests from verified tenants and approve the ones that work for you.
4
Get paid directly
Once your rental agreement is signed, your payment is released straight to your bank account, on a schedule detailed in our Terms of Service.
Verification

The green badge isn't decoration.

Here's exactly what a landlord has to pass before they can list a property on HomeDirectNG.

1

NIN checked

The landlord's National Identification Number is checked against national records to confirm it's real and belongs to them.

2

Live face scan

A live selfie scan on the landlord's phone confirms there's a real, present person, not a photo or a recording.

3

Face matched to ID

That live scan is matched against the photo on file for their NIN. Only when it matches do they get the badge.

The badge means a real person, with a government-verified identity, whose face matched their ID. Not a claim. A check.

Your money

A payment process built for accountability.

Here's exactly what happens to your money, in order.

1
You pay through Paystack
Rent and any platform fee are charged securely through Paystack, a licensed Nigerian payment provider.
2
Disbursed on a structured schedule
Once your agreement is signed by both sides, your payment is disbursed on a schedule designed to protect both of you, including a portion held back until your move-in is confirmed. Full details are in our Terms of Service.
3
You move in and confirm it
Once you've moved in and confirm it in the app, the process is considered complete on your side.
4
Remaining balance released
Any remaining portion of your payment is released to the landlord once your move-in is confirmed.

If something goes wrong before move-in

Our dispute resolution process reviews cases where a rental doesn't proceed as agreed. Raise a dispute in-app within the dispute window, and our team reviews evidence from both sides before any remaining funds are released. Resolution outcomes are governed by our Terms of Service.

Why we built this

I've paid an agent fee for a house that turned out not to be for rent. I've watched friends send rent money to someone who disappeared the next day. Renting a home in Nigeria shouldn't require that kind of risk. We built HomeDirectNG so a tenant and a landlord can deal directly, with real verification and a payment that's actually protected, instead of hoping for the best.

FAQ

Questions people actually ask.

What happens to my money if the deal falls through? +
Our dispute resolution process reviews cases where a rental doesn't proceed as agreed. Raise a dispute in-app within the dispute window and our team reviews evidence from both sides before any remaining funds are released. Resolution outcomes are governed by our Terms of Service.
How do you verify landlords actually own the property? +
Every landlord verifies their identity with their NIN and a live face check before they're allowed to list. We're building additional ownership checks as the platform grows, and any listing can be reported if something looks wrong.
Is HomeDirectNG a bank or an escrow company? +
No. We're a rental platform with a protected payment workflow built into the rental process. Payments are processed by Paystack, a licensed Nigerian payment provider. We don't hold banking licenses and don't operate as a financial institution.
What does verification require from me as a landlord? +
You'll enter your NIN and complete a short live face scan on your phone. We check your NIN against national records and confirm your face matches the photo on file. Once both pass, you get the verified badge and can list your property.
Which cities are you available in? +
We're launching first in Benin City, Edo State. Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt are next. Join the waitlist and we'll notify you the moment we're live in your city.
What does it cost? +
Listing your property is free. A small platform fee is added to protected transactions to cover verification, payment protection, and support. There are no hidden agent commissions.
How are disputes handled? +
If a landlord or tenant doesn't fulfil their side of the agreement, either party can raise a dispute in-app. Our team reviews the case and, where a payment is involved, resolves it according to the protected payment terms both parties agreed to.
